THE STAGE STRUCK SEAL

One of these books that, handled with the tiniest bit of heavy handedness would be silly, just escapes into the realm of good nonsense. The story of a rich old man and the seal he has adopted, and of the children and the elephant they bought with their pennies, and of how they acquired a circus really to give the seal and the elephant a proper setting. Sheer absurdity, but amusingly done. The illustrations are posterish and though a trifle amateurish, fit the text admirably.
