GROW THEM INDOORS

A year ago we discovered the perfect book on bulbs, Bulbs for Your Garden. The author has now written another much needed book quite as near perfection. Information has been not only scarce but not too accurate on the subject of house plants, Mr. Wood's book is full of imagination and vision, suggestions for every type of indoor gardening fill the chapters, explicit directions explain how to purchase, plant and propagate seeds and bulbs. Where to keep them until they are ready to be put in your room, the best exposures, how to regulate blooms, how much moisture, etc. There are chapters on pests, scales and blights. One of the best features and a selling point now is the fact that Mr. Wood tells which plants will be helped and which hindered by being put in the outdoor garden for the summer. Apparently many plants do not appreciate such a vacation and would much prefer to remain quietly in their familiar haunts. The book should also be sold this time of year so people can plan for next winter.
