LORENZO BEAR & COMPANY

The latest, and possibly least endearing, addition to an increasingly overbearing family Lorenzo joins with friend Wolvering and some Trader Rats (who wear ""Junior Helper"" buttons) in opening a swap shop. The purpose of their banal bartering (a boot for a belt buckle, a broken flashlight for some wood screws) is to obtain parts for the first ""animal rocket."" Their jerrybuild missile is no sooner launched than it aborts in midair, but Horned Owl, the pilot, perpetrates a hoax to save face for Lorenzo & Company. Though Fernando Krahn's forest provides an appropriately woolly setting this is one contribution to (or conceivably a satire on) the space effort which never gets off the ground.
