""Delightful reading for the folk who find a fascination in those long slithering bodies, covers snake-dom from birth statistics to odd tales about capturing pythons for zoos, in well ordered chapters that exhibit a quiet humor too. Almost all of the first half of the book is taken up with general information:- numbers of species there are in the world, origin, physiology, eating and reproduction, how snakes sense their surroundings, and groundless supersititions about snakes. The next two sections on helpful and poisonous North American snakes familiarize us with specific kinds and tell, among other things, what to do for snake bites. Last chapters regale with information on world snakes from anacondas to bushmasters and those tricky pythons which must be pushed coil by coil, into strong boxes for zoo captivity.
