FAMOUS DANCERS

About a dozen famous European and American dancers, both modern and ballet, have been included in this collection of biographical sketches about them. T comes first and with her a small critique of early ballet that acts the policy for the rest of the book- to define each dancer as a contributor to the art as well as a personality. The author does both well in her limited space. Through lives of Pavlova, Markova, Isadora Duncan, Nijinsky, Graham, Youskevitch and others- which comment on the unfortunate as well as the successful- we have a small history of contemporary dance too.
