Since Thomas' eye had earlier wandered toward the young Princess Elizabeth, and after his marriage to Katharine, his hands did too. The portraits here are conventional--of Henry as self-indulgent sensualist, and his Kate as tactful and gentle in her ways as she nurses him through his last phase. She's a well-deserved subject for the kind of confident, sympathetic presentation Miss Plaidy has done through the years. Pleasant reading for any lady's bedchamber.
