Sixth and last came Catherine Parr / Sixth and last and luckiest far--For this time it was Henry who / Hopped the twig, and a good job too."" True. But less fortunate in her love for Thomas Seymour, ambitious, calculating, charming, which predated her obligatory marriage to Henry VIII and continued after his death when she married him. Since Thomas' eye had earlier wandered toward the young Princess Elizabeth, and after his marriage to Katharine, his hands did too. The portraits here are conventional--of Henry as self-indulgent sensualist, and his Kate as tactful and gentle in her ways as she nurses him through his last phase. She's a well-deserved subject for the kind of confident, sympathetic presentation Miss Plaidy has done through the years. Pleasant reading for any lady's bedchamber.
