THE LITTLE CIRCUS

A light adventure of carnival life, this has a fairy tale quality as it describes the days of a marionette showman and his two nephews, Gillian and Johnny. It is Gillian and Uncle Dill at first who decide to start their marionette show, lain idle so long because of the disappearance of Uncle Dill's beloved sister Etienne, who had helped him years ago before the she married an acrobat and left to join a circus. Then, out on the road, they run into Johnny, a frail circus boy escaping from a wicked master, Roderick. To protect Johnny, Uncle Dill takes him in and the relationship, as they work the marionettes, proves a warm one that leads eventually to the discovery that Etienne is Johnny's mother. Special- for an interest in show life.
