THE GREEN LIFESTYLE GUIDE: 1001 Ways to Heal the Earth

An authoritative guide to ecological action. Composed of more than 20 essays, each written by one or more world-class experts and each including a practical ""Tips"" section, the book balances nicely between individual and community initiatives. The authors assembled by Rifkin (Entropy, Time Wars, etc.) include Frances Moore LappÉ, on how to ""Choose to Eat Low on the Food Chain""; Robert Rodale and Marie Rodale, on the rewards of gardening; Carol Grunewald on consumer boycotts, with thorough explanations of major, ongoing boycotts such as the one against tuna products (modern tuna-fishing methods kill millions of dolphins a year); Thomas Berry, on ""The Role of Religion""; etc. Especially useful are Sondra L. Goodman's long reference essay on ""The Hazardous Household""--with its A-Z description of products and ingredients, and household tips that give Heloise (above) a run for the money--and a thoughtful bibliography by Donald E. Davis.
