LAYMAN'S DAILY MISSAL, PRAYERBOOK AND RITUAL

This is undoubtedly the most complete, compact, tastefully-produced manual providing for the spiritual needs of Catholics yet to be made available to them. In addition to having the usual contents of a daily missal (but with new English translations) it supplies the texts of sacramental rites, parts of the Divise office and a collection of appealing prayers for private use. Other supplementary material includes a discussion of what the liturgy is, an index of Scripture readings for each Sunday and for Feasts and a large selection of votive masses. Though almost 1900 pages long, the book is a masterpiece of production. This is indeed a basic book for Catholics which has almost every phase of life in the Church covered. The publishers are to be congratulated on breaking with traditional practices (black bindings, stock, archaic language etc.) to give Catholics a manual which certainly is representative of the ""aggiornamento"" of the Church which Pone John XXIII and Pope Paul VI are seeking.
