This enters the realm of speculative fiction as opposed to science fiction and poses an interesting question: What happens when you take a group of people representing every hang-up in the world and throw them into a supervised lost weekend to become ""intimate."" According to A.E.G., the organization sponsoring this type of group therapy, it's the answer to alienation. It's also a little like spending a lifetime with George and Martha of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and the reader is likely to become exhausted viewing these ""separate, secret agonies"" in the process of becoming exposed. And not one agony seems to have been missed...sado-masochism, homosexuality, incest, wife-trading, nymphomania, racial prejudice, etc. ad infinitum. Considering the fact that there are only out- twelve seemingly respectable people, one gets the impression that the author feels that if you scratch a housewife you get an exhibitionist. But he handles his characters and his point well and the voyeuristic fascination will keep the readers reading.
