OLD MACDONALD

A highly entertaining and inventive version of a favorite song, with plenty of surprises in the gatefolds. The pictures are pleasantly scruffy, lively cut-paper collage, with details added in charcoal; Old MacDonald is a big-eared, bald-headed, bow-tied old guy. Readers fold out the righthand page to determine the other participants in the song. The layout of the text is rhythmically perfect: quacks fly in all directions, oinks curl up in a loop, and the biggest surprise is a Martian, who adds to the fun with a ""Beep Beep"" here and a ""Beep Beep"" there. Grand for the preschool set.
