Ball Four was by no means out but just the beginning of a new career on TV where there's an equivalent amount of sex and just as long a walk to the studio. Bouton goes on rapping here in his usual loose-jointed, funny, fearless fashion (""most TV screens aren't big enough to get all of Joe's [Pepitone] hairpiece into the picture""); kidding himself and his last season when his head was on his book (""Shakespeare, you no-good rat-fink"" -- one of his teammates) and not his knuckleball; discussing the sanctity of the clubhouse -- well it's not a ""CIA office""; mickeyfinning Mantle (he did get that letter from the man who tried to shake his hand and was told by Mantle, ""If you don't get your hand out of the way I'll break it for you""); and generally guying everyone.
