COMPLETE GUIDE TO SYMPTOMS, ILLNESS & SURGERY

Sound guidance from a knowledgeable source. Griffith (Complete Guide to Prescription and Non-Prescription Drugs) has organized and simplified a massive amount of information into readily accessible chart form. In three major sections, Griffith covers common symptoms, illnesses and disorders, and surgical procedures. For each symptom, he lists in chart form associated symptoms/factors, the possible problem, and what to do (e.g., ""call doctor now""; ""see doctor,"" ""include more fiber in your diet""). In the ""Illness"" section, Griffith offers extensive information on each illness: general description; ""what to expect"" in terms of general health, disease course, and outcome; medical and self-treatment; and when to call the doctor. The final section, on surgical procedures, also lists details of postoperative care. As Griffith points out, none of this is a substitute for medical consultation or care--but it will establish the patient as an informed consumer. A detailed, clearly organized family medical reference.
