A smooth baseball yarn by Mr. Archibald moves along with the crack of the bat and knocks the chip off the shoulder of a promising rookie from the slums. Johnny Gramner, a fine fielder and batter, has a tough crust of resentment mostly against Savo, a petty extortionist in the tenement where he used to live. Still, Johny gets a chance with the majors and the opportunity to better his own personality by donating his earnings to the establishment of a youth center in his own home. Simple and well knit.
