Good old Charlie -- he's that friend in any family and he's determined, as a p.r. man, to see that Paul King, an actor, makes it big -- from a British repertory company to Stratford to a film. Because then Paul will abandon Shirley, his ego-booster, to Charlie..... only Paul is murdered in what was essentially ""manslaughter once removed""... A slow tease for a pleasant slow take.
