THE FALL LINE: A Skier's Journal

Mr. Tobin is a veteran who started out in the days of strap skis and straight shooting. This follows the developments in equipment, technique and speed with a concentration on racing (the author is an Amateur Champion). It's an informal journal with plenty of special events -- like the time Toni Matt made an unbelievable schluss in the Inferno Run Down Mount Washington. And There's the Dartmouth Winter Carnival, the Alpine Olympics when Toni Siler won three events and snaps of today's Super Star Killy -- ""It never occurs to me that I will not go first."" There are tips on everything from shaping up to mastering the avalement and this is really for the Intermediate who knows how to get down but wants to go up.
