In what is at best a shambling narrative, this is the elegy of one Edgar Pool, once the demanding, proud ""evil Father"" of them all who with his horn could blow the truth, but now is a lushed ruin with a convulsive cough. Geordie who had once loved him, Walden Blue who learned from him and still remembers what he had been, search for Edgar through the city- Edgar who is trying to hustle up fifty dollars to go back to K.C., and whom they find in the Go Hole. Drunk, sick, Edgar gets up to play for the last time (and like the Young Man With who is his unforgettable prototype) blows out his lungs.... Moaning Man I mean low, in a thick, spasmic prose, this is only for those committed.
