Romance and adventure and a phase of American history that fits into the panel with Northwest Passage, and deals with the same character, at an earlier date, Rogers of the famous Rangers. The central character is a Scottish youth, escaped from the aftermath of the Stuart misadventures, and taking up life in the Hampshire Grants. The French-Indian Wars bring him into contact with Rogers, and he is himself a scout of no small achievement. A grand tale, well told, and the author with this first novel, will make a name for himself.
