FISH HAWK

Mr. Kaufmann's debut as a nature writer combines a large-print format suited to an eight-year-old with a vocabulary and approach more appropriate to age eleven. He discusses and diagrams a great deal of information about the osprey or fish hawk, including such complexities as the structure in the bird's eye designed to correct for light refraction. Attention to the inevitable conservation problem concludes. Nicely written and organized, clearly illustrated--inappropriately packaged.
