THREE FAMOUS SPY NOVELS
by ‧RELEASE DATE: July 14, 1942
Good value, this successor to Three Famous Murder Novels which went into four sizable editions. An intelligent selection:- E. Phillips Oppenheim's The Great Impersonation, which appeared twenty years ago, and is surprisingly less florid than his later stuff the story of a man impersonating his impersonator; Graham Greene's Confidential Agent (1939), which has an intellectuality and a social implication that lift it out of the straight adventure-intrigue class, making it on all counts, superior fare. And lastly, Eric Ambler's superb Journey into Fear (1940), smooth, spare, chilling, the story of an English engineer's attempts to reach England. Good merchandise.
