FIVE ROADS TO DEATH

South American terroristas have kidnapped Richard Potter of Harkness Chemical, and no one seems to be interested in saving him--except Peter Styles of News-view magazine, prodded out of his depressed widowerhood by Potter's folksinging amour. Styles never goes south of the border, but in Manhattan--talking to the glowering Harkness Chemical honchos (who fear expropriation), to State Dept. connections, and to the flight crew that supposedly flew Potter to his rendezvous with ransom--he learns enough to doubt that Potter was ever kidnapped at all: Ugly Big Business at its corruptest. Redundant, longwinded dialogues aside, this is a professional product from a non-complacent veteran, but one who'd be advised to keep up with the trends in music and fashion as well as those in corporate evil.
