TIM MOUSE GOES DOWN THE STREAM

The hero of Tim Mouse and the Ma]or (1973), accompanied here by his hedgehog friend Mr. Brown, sails his homemade raft downstream through a duck pond and a watercress jungle to rescue poor Willy Frog from a gang of fierce river rats who have him imprisoned in the stem of their toy boat. The mission is accomplished with the same straightforward dispatch that characterized the major's maneuvers, and again Judy Brook--simply, one suspects, by refusing to glance to the right or left--just barely steers her way through the old-fashioned, unelaborated story and conventionally cozy scenes.
