TWO GOOD FRIENDS

Duck,"" says Bear on a visit to his friend's house, ""you are a very good housekeeper, but what good is a clean house if you have nothing to eat?"" Contrariwise, Duck is offered all sorts of goodies at Bear's house but there are no clean plates or forks and his webbed feet get stuck in the spilled honey on the kitchen floor. The pair's differences are of course cordially resolved in keeping with prevailing patterns in beginning-to-read animal friendships: while Bear takes six raspberry muffins to Duck's house as a surprise, Duck is secretly putting Bear's house in apple pie order. A passable addition to the genre, with Giulio Maestro's pleasantly subdued crayony pictures echoing the warm welcoming tone of the relationship.
