MAIDCRAFT: A Guide for the One-Maid Household

This book is designed to be used by the mistress to help her organize the maid's work, rather than to give to the maid. Some of the details of table arrangement, removing stains, planning work ahead for dinner parties, etc. might be valuable for the intelligent maid, but ordinarily are better given as instructions from the mistress. General plan of book excellent:- outlines handling of routine and schedule to best mutual advantage. Question raised by my maid in consultation -- is there not an advantage in giving maid opportunity to plan her own schedule, after she is broken in to established and preferred routine of what is expected? (Personal comment -- would be sounder if some division of labor were indicated). Excellent for young housekeeper. Might suggest as shower present. First anniversary (paper) present etc.
