MARIANNE AND THE REBELS

Constantinople this time assures more pashanate nonsense about Marianne who is sent there by Napoleon via Venice and the Greek Isles (Sappho appears and takes her by the hand, only) while of course she is filled with ""visceral longing"" for her American lover, Jason Beaufort, whom she meets midway and is separated from again. Marianne is as ravishing as ever, particularly under red silk sheets, but as one of her assailants says -- ""she's so unwilling there's no pleasure in it"" -- a thought which befitted us perfectly.
