Herbert Hated Being Small. . . and Phil (short for Philomel) hates being tall. So Herbert with his teddy bear sets out from Loomington (""where everything looms large and high"") to find someone as short as he is; Phil with her bear leaves Littleville in search of someone as tall as she; and both succeed when they meet on a hill halfway between. Being the same height, they conclude: ""I guess size is related to just who is standing next to you/ and where you are and where you're from."" The whole small story flows along in easy rhyme, which avoids monotony and softens the didactic simplicity.
