The operative word is Plans; the implied component is imagination. Starting with one word, a theme, the author develops plans for a variety of simple parties for children six to nine in summer and winter and in-between, indoors and out. Her ideas for winter, outdoor parties are particularly original, and will be particularly welcome: snowball fights, sleds and snows sculpting turn bad weather to good advantage. None of these parties costs much, none requires elaborate preparation (or makes much mess), and all can be adapted for groups of various sizes. Typical is the Button Party and its relay race--buttoning and unbuttoning two coats. From invitation to refreshments, a compendium of practical pleasure.
