HERODIA, the Lovely Puppet

In 1873 Professor Blair wandered through Pennsylvania with his caravan and puppet-show, the hit of which was a young ballet dancer who looked almost real. One morning outside Center Square Jock came on Herodia and discovered that the dancer was truly a young girl. Because there was a mystery about her, Uncle Jess decided to move on so that most of the book seems taken up with constant wanderings, part of which were through Lancaster County, the Amish and Mennonite country. At the end Jock and Herodia get married. A girl's book which somehow did not seem completely absorbing.
