SPOTS ARE SPECIAL!

In a game try at convincing chicken pox sufferers that ""spots are special,"" Sandy plays ""great fierce leopard,"" ""green spotted frog"" and dalmatian with so much conviction that her sick room is turned, successively, into a thick jungle, a lush pond and a firehouse. Dawson's black and white illustrations look believably like the kind of feverish daydreams that might be hatched in a sick room, and Sandy even manages to make her brother Eric jealous--though of course, he soon becomes ""special"" too. Other healthy kids might not be impressed, but Sandy's innocence of self-pity and really fiendish energy ought to make her a welcome sick room visitor.
