More of a novel than its predecessors (which read like bits of personal record) -- and above the usual female fare, in a story of a woman's devotion to a shadow lover, the secret of whose death she has kept, and whose son she has raised, at her family's expense. A legacy to all frees the boy, John, from Nora's domination; gives her sister, Tina, free rain for her own life; and brings about a situation in which John Insists on a marriage with Madal, selfish, grdy and position loving. A threatened cutting off of funds breaks up the affair -- and eventually Nora is freed of the ghosts of her past. Feminine appeal, with deft touch.
