THE DISAPPEARANCE OF KIT SHANE

Tim Danvers is a typical American boy of sixteen whose famioy all work on the Los Angeles Record. He and his friend Hank plan to go camping, Tim to supply all the items from A through M. They start off in his old rattletrap car, but along the way back, in the country, they pick up a girl hitch-hiker. They take her to ""Manana"", a de luxe hotel with cottages used by Hollywood vacationists. There they bump into front-page news, for Kit Shane, the fourteen-year old movie star, has disappeared. They are up to their necks in a kidnapping plot which gives Tim's older brother a chance to prove his worth as a reporter. A very good yarn, with amusing lingo and plenty of action, one of the better boys' thrillers.
