But while he provides a fascinating overview of new procedures and equipment, he doesn't mention cost or ethics, and gives little attention to limitations or failures of products or procedures. Still, readers can marvel at computers that turn typed text into speech, electronic muscle stimulators, flexible artificial feet, and synthetic ribbons of carbon fibers coated with polymers, used to repair tom ligaments.
