THE WOMAN IN THE WOODS

The discovery of the year-old corpse of a woman in the woods of Braxham Parva, an English village, later identified as a common little actress- Queenie, spreads the contagion of death- to Dr. Heslop, the locum; Miss Brooks who paints and Mr. Plumtree who writes; Tim Brennan- the schoolmaster- and particularly young Daniel, a bedridden boy who has lived with an objectionable, imaginary ""Miss Fenny"" all this time. The child's fantasies- dangerously revealing to the killer- almost put an end to his young life.... A debut distinguished by style, humor and originality.
