Ten studies of literary great who were suffers from tuberculosis. These biographical sketches do not emphasize the role of the disease, but are rather condensed life stories, with nothing particularly original to offer. They include St. Francis Keats, Shelley, Voltaire, Stevenson, Schiller, Moliere and others. The influence of disease on mental powers is most evident in the cases of Mansfield and Bashkirtseff; with most of the cases, the tie-up is not obvious. Limited appeal.
