DORINDA'S DIAMONDS

Quite a humorous family story mixes in pathos as well and sets its fabulous discovery down in realistic terms. Dorinda Daly, about 11, lives with her mother and father and her biggest worry is money, for her father is making a slow psychological recovery from an unfortunate accident that cost him the loss of a leg. Then Dorinda's explorations, in the basement of their house, uncover a cache of 23 diamonds. As the Daly's house is rented, there are legal transactions to go through and they particularly involve Mr. Von Doodle who is physical education teacher at Dorinda's school. Mr. Von Doodle has property rights and when his lawyer tries to deprive Dorinda of her just rewards, Mr. Von Doodle is quick to realize the situation, fire his lawyer, make friends with the Dalys and inspire Mr. Daly with the fact that he himself has a wooden leg and became a physical instructor despite the handicap.
