THE TIME OF TERROR

2 1/2 year old Chris Dobie disappears from in front of a Long Island supermarket (a real life situation from last year's headlines) and it is the spontaneous, later regretted, action of Frank Mace, hard pressed- he is jobless and his wife and children have left him. He is about to return the child when an old associate Barney forces him to raise the ante and before the case is closed it extends its sphere of suffering and fatality. A sure handling of a foolproof set-up for sympathy and suspense.
