PENGUINS

A new nature study by Mr. Darling is as engagingly written and illustrated as his others have been and in its quiet way makes the most of the fascinating facts of penguin life. Their habits- walking in lines and groups for miles over the ice and snow, chatting and squabbling furiously during the mating season, playing like excited children and gesturing like a bunch of comics- are hugely enjoyable to humans. Most of the book is a description of a season in the life of Adelie penguins, but end data accounts for world distribution, physical characteristics of other species and their peculiar adaptability to Antarctic environs.
