THE GLORY OF ELSIE SILVER

Readers of Magnolia Street, Mr. Emmanuel, and other Golding novels will remember Elsie Silver as the not so good girl from Doomington who later became embroiled with the Nazis, in spite of her Jewish ancestry. This tells how Elsie finds herself a fugitive, when her husband is killed and her ""honorary Aryan"" certificate invalidated, and how she is caught up in the epic battle of the Warsaw ghetto where for the first time she aligns herself with her people. Greater elements of suspense, of adventure, than in the previous books in the series, and the tragedy of the ghetto cannot fail to impress- and move.
