Mrs. Larsen's party foods are for the most part sweets- sweet sweets cakes, candies, ples and pastries, cookies, rolls. There are some seasonal novelties as well to make the holidays even more festive, and a good of cake decoration-mostly her own ideas. This gives the book a certain value for the professional cook as well as those who are more ambitious at home. Taste-wise, they are strictly American in appeal; substantial rather than subtle.
