Ever since Westward Round in the Schooner Yankee back in 1936 set a pattern for the unique travel records of the Johnsons, man and wife, their journeys and the records have been of wide appeal to the sailing fraternity. Three of the books are still selling. Now comes this one, which is a potpourri of experiences based on the sixth round the world voyage, In 1953. With 23 aboard, the Yankee voyaged for adventure, curiosity and the precious films that Irving Johnson uses to illustrate his popular lectures. The addition of Lydia Edes' letters home provides the best-written and most colorful pages. And the text- science-wise- hasn't much to say, but the anecdotal recalls include harpooning a whale, hobnobbing with sea lions, spearing fish, hula dancing, and meeting both primitives and tropical sophisticates. The Solomons, Galapagos, New Guinea, Borneo, Zanzibar, Kenya figure is an itinerary which may arouse envy among the ocean going addicts. A happy-go-lucky Lenor extends to this loosely organized record. Its market has been established.
