In preparing the child for his first trip to the hospital, we would recommend initially a more specific, better illustrated guide. There is an abundance of information tucked away in this little book touching on almost every aspect of hospital life-- the functions of doctors and nurses, descriptions of hospital equipment, the daily routine etc. But for the young child about to embark on his first hospital experience, the focus is not sharp enough to reduce anxiety to a minimum. The many varieties of nurses' caps, the function of the heart, the purpose of determining the child's blood type are extraneous aspects with which a child may be intensely concerned during his convalescence. An excellent book possibly to bring to the hospital on a visit.
