RETURN TO CHESTERTON

As the author explains in her introduction, this started out as merely a larger edition of her biography of Chesterton, but somewhere along the way turned into a supplementary volume consisting mainly of unpublished letters and verses, along with fresh stories collected from those who knew him. Inevitably anecdotal rather than analytical, this is, too, slanted rather heavily in the direction of Chesterton's conversion to Catholicism. Though not a biography for beginners in the saga of this important and certainly paradoxical figure of English letters, it is an important contribution to already existing Chestertoniana.
