Odd and even numbers, square and triangular numbers, defined and added and rearranged in words and representative pictures -- ten shells, nine buttons, sixteen dogs, etc. The point appears to be as much the value of visualizing concepts with pictures as the concepts themselves. It's hard to imagine anyone getting through all the exercises without an intuitive grasp of square and triangular numbers but it's almost as hard to imagine a kid who needs all the elaboration on odds and evens going through it for fun as the publishers suggest.
