PENNYWEATHER LUCK

Modern setting for a story of the Pennyweathers who live between the levee and the Mississippi near New Orleans. Hardworking, big family, they are engaged in the unceasing struggle for existence. They have their dreams and goals; Lanny is musical, Dory wants to be a river engineer; there are queer mad characters and a mysterious drowning that weaves a thread of colorful details of life in this region. Mardi Gras, moss gathering, the swamps, the storms, the calm and lovely days- a mellow story with regional interest. The age level is above the one usually expects from this author.
