SECOND SON

Another Philippine adventure with a religious motif (see Ricardo's Search) describes some months in the life of eight year old Pedro, called Segundo, who was born after his older brother had been mysteriously lost in a storm. Through his local school, Segundo is given the opportunity to visit a Protestant missionary school and hospital nearby and there he gets acquainted with Carlos, one of the pupils who is studying to be a missionary. Attracted to each other immediately, the boys decide to be ""brethren"" and then Pedro discovers that Carlos actually is his brother.
