She rates Crime Club once again, does Margaret Scherf, with her third Martin uell sleuthing yarn. Buell wears his ministerial garb somewhat lightly, but this time his perpetual casualness results in his getting committed to a series of lectures- uplift variety- at an Amiability finds things not quite as pacific as intended; the diet rks almost everyone. And when Martin Ruell indulges his own passion for the culinary arts by making custard pies, the result is more startling than anticipated. Two deaths two close calls- and Father Buell's sleuthing scent is alerted, and with a few setbacks, he runs the criminal to earth. It has its moments of originality and hilarity- and is good reading all told.
