THE FAMILY BOOK OF DOGS

From Afghan to Zwergschnauzer (dwarf schnauzer to you), this is a well done first encyclopedia of dogs- containing upwards of 60 entries and much of its information in the fineline drawings of a dog a page, by Lumen Winter. Marguerite Leslie, it will be remembered, did a very nice little fantasy in 1951, called A Song For Arabella, an aptly researched comic opera on an early Stanley steamer. Her care for subject matter is evident and repeats itself here, in interesting facts of origin, habits, physical features etc., of lesser known dogs (basenji, vizsla, weimaraner) as well as favorites. Family appeal.
