HANDWEAVING AND CLOTH DESIGN

For the ambitious, experienced weaver, this highly technical import includes valuable pointers on fabric design. Diagrammatic notations for a large variety of complex weaves, including gauze and leno, are presented as are introductory discussions on pile fabrics, multilayer cloths, and finishing techniques, with a few distracting Britishisms. The eight fullcolor reproductions are appealing--the one showing twelve ""fancy yarns"" is especially helpful--and numerous black-and-white photographs, drawings, and charts represent floor and table looms and their parts, provide close ups and diagrams of weave constructions, and indicate finger placement.
