The main body of the text takes up in progression the uses to which puppet shows can be- and are- put (entertainment, education, rehabilitation, group recreation with psychoneurotics, and so on). There is suggestion too of the potentials for advertising, moving pictures, television. Next, planning and promoting of puppet shows-and what are the essential factors of a good show.. Then construction- types of puppets- costumes- accessories; stages-scenery- lighting- furniture- off stage effects; playwriting and adaptation for the puppet theatre; production and direction- manipulation- voices- music- and hints on achieving the professional level. There is an excellent bibliography.
