I WRITE FROM WASHINGTON

This is a sane, balanced and consistently interesting Washington correspondent's inside story of the city that supplies his material. It differs from the Kiplinger book in being a long span picture -- ten years of incidents, history in the making, personalities, through the whole of the New Deal era up to the present wartime Washington. Prominent personalities and those less well known, inside pictures of various departments -- objectively critical where necessary. He tells of petty and major political rows; he traces the changes in men under stress, shows, for example, Willkie developing into a figure of international importance. A grand running story.
